This car has been my wife's baby (she's Operababe72, not me!) for the past two years and though we love it, we both agree it's time for an upgrade. This little car runs well and looks good too. Naturally, at 20 years old, it is not without "issues" but the good far outweighs the bad with this car. I'll describe everything as well as I can later in this listing.

We purchased this car used from a dealer in June of 2005 for $4500.00. Since then, we've put thousands of dollars into the car to make it mechanically sound and aesthetically pleasing. In terms of aesthetics, this car is a real beauty. We get loads of compliments when we take her out with the top down on a sunny day. The car was professionally painted in December 2006. While there are minor parking lot dings here and there, the body and the paint looks great. There is no rust. The convertible top is in excellent condition with no rips or tears. The plastic rear window is perfectly clear.

The interior of the car is in very good condition, considering the vehicle's age. We had a custom-made seat cover made for the back seat and semi-custom covers made for the front seats. They look great, they stay in place perfectly, and they can be removed for washing. (See http://www.iggee.com.) Unfortunately, the previous owner did not take good care of the leather and it is worn in spots and there are several holes on the back seat. The custom seat covers were a very attractive, yet affordable alternative to having the leather redone. We had a $400 Sony stereo with a single CD player installed this spring with four new speakers. The sound is very good and the display on the stereo compliments the display on the car's dashboard. The onboard computer and cruise control are fully functional and work perfectly. The carpets are clean, but there is some wear on the driver's side. We have added very nice berber mats. The dashboard and interior fixtures are in excellent condition. There are no cracks and it is not faded. We are non-smokers and the car is frequently detailed at our local detail shop.

Mechanically, we have done the following repairs over the past two years:

New timing belt (spring 2007)
All new belts and hoses (spring 2007)
Rebuilt the alternator (fall 2007)
New brakes front and rear (high quality ceramic brakes. Perfect fit, no squealing)
All lights replaced and the circuits adjusted
Four new Bridgestone tires (Fall 2007)
Repair to radiator
AC maintenance/Freon
Oil/Fluid changes
We have the receipts for most of these repairs.

Since we have owned the car, it has been maintained by a reputable foreign car specialist in Stuart, FL. Everytime we bring it in, our mechanic tells us what a good, solid car it is and how strong the engine is. The car runs well. My wife drives it Ft. Lauderdale several times a month and it continues to be reliable transportation for her. This is a very peppy, zippy car. When driving on the highway, there is no shaking. The shocks are in fine condition.

Of course, a 20 year old car is likely to have issues. Ours does have some you should know about:

There is a slow leak from the Power Steering fluid. We add Power Steering fluid maybe 2x/year.
A/C recently stopped feeling ice cold. We had it maintained in the summer of 2007. Our mechanic gave it some freon and it was ice cold until now. I suspect another dose of freon is all it needs, though I cannot be completely sure.
Needs a fan blower motor (intermittantly loud and squeaky though all speeds work)
Heat has never worked (we didn't care since we don't need it very often in South Florida!)
Power windows: Driver side front and passenger side rear windows work. The other two don't. I have a window motor we purchased for the front window and I will include it with the car ($100+ from Autozone)
The car may be leaking transmission fluid as well. Fluid was needed at our last oil change.
Odometer has not worked since we bought the car. Mileage says 127,000. We estimate that we've driven between 15,000 and 20,000 miles in the past two years. The speedometer, tachometer, and the entire on-board computer work perfectly.
Body molding on the passenger side recently fell off. I understand this is easy to get from a junk yard.
Occasionally, not always, and not in a predictable pattern, the car hesitates before going into reverse. The transmission shifts smoothly on the road (automatic). Someone suggested the issue may be with the selector, not the transmission but I have not pursued further diagnosis. You may or may not experience this issue, but I want to be completely upfront and honest, so I'm letting you know.
While my wife loves her BMW, we've both decided it's time for an upgrade. I realize that I won't begin to break even financially considering all we've put into this vehicle. Our loss is your gain. This would be a perfect vehicle for a BMW enthusiast with some mechanical knowledge. In any event, we hope the new owner will love and care for this beautiful car as well as or even better than we have.

This car is garaged in Jensen Beach, FL. It has a clear title that is in my possession. Shipping is, of course, the full responsibility of the buyer. We'll be glad to help make the transportation plans work however we can. This car is sold As Is. There are no guarantees or warrantys.

Payment must be made either through direct bank transfer, or, considering the relatively low price on this vehicle, we may consider accepting payment through PayPal.
